Giovinco Named Best Player At Toulon

The Azzurrini won the competition for the first time last night as Pablo Osvaldo’s goal was enough to defeat Chile 1-0.Giovinco was not at his influential best on the night, mainly due to the horrific weather conditions, however the pint sized playmaker had a stunning tournament. He scored both goals in the 2-0 first group game win over the Ivory Coast, before he provided two brilliant assists in the 2-0 victory over the USA in the last pool match. The playmaker was also in scintillating form in the semi final success over Japan, scoring the winning penalty in the shootout.Giovinco was unsurprisingly named player of the tournament, with Chile’s wonderfully talented number 10 Pedro Morales finishing second, and Japan’s Hiroki Mizumoto coming third. The Ivory Coast’s Sekou Cisse won the top-scorer award after scoring four goals, while Italy’s Davide Bassi won the best goalkeeper award, with the Azzurrini conceding just one goal in their five games.
